Polocrosse Comes to Chukkar Farm!
What is Polocrosse?

Although Polocrosse resembles the American Indian game of lacrosse, its origins date back hundreds of years to Persia and it is the sister sport of polo.  In England, Polocrosse was an indoor exercise to teach people how to ride a horse.  The modern game took shape in Australia in the 1930's.  Today, there are over 6,000 players in the world.  Competitions between the United States and others countries have already begun.

Pee Wee Polo!
Whether your 10-and-under youngster wants to try something new or your horseback riding child is tired or bored with ‘round and ‘round-the-ring riding lessons, Pee Wee Polo is designed for the kids!  As we do with all instruction at Chukkar Farm, our Pee Wees learn on safe, reliable and trained horses.  A large beach ball in our enclosed practice arena makes learning easy and fun.

Even if your child doesn’t ride as yet come and explore the opportunities.  The kids can pet the horses and  learn their way around the farm and stables.  See the equipment and practice strokes on our wooden horse “Gaby” in our specially-designed enclosed hitting cage.  Your child will work with “Foot” mallets (short mallets that can be used for practice on foot or on bicycles).

Jenny Kepano heads our Pee Wee Polo Program and teaches beginner and intermediate riders. .  For more information please contact her at jennykepano@comcast.net.

SONG is a club dedicated to promoting the sport of Lure Coursing by holding practices and occasionally putting on exhibitions to introduce the sport to the general public.  At the practices we socialize puppies, train, condition, correct bad habits, etc. SONG specializes in getting people and hounds ready for Lure Coursing competition. Practices are tailored to the hound’s needs. This is a club that is run by and for the members, allowing all sight hound breeds to run.

SONG holds lure coursing practices because there are very few opportunities for people to train their hounds for competition.  SONG gives individual attention to each hound and provides a place to socialize young hounds and introduce them to the lure.  It is also a good place for novices to learn about the sport of lure coursing.  But mostly we run our hounds for the sheer joy of it!

If you have any questions, please contact David Mercurio, davidmercurio@bellsouth.net , SONG President or Alison Tyler, Atyler1462@aol.com , SONG Secretary.  You can also find all our information online at http://www.nghounds.info
